The Blog

What Champions Are Actually Built From

The Athlete Builder blog turns the podcast into writing. Two posts a week, built from 150+ episodes with college coaches, pro coaches and champions: one for coaches and facility owners, one for parents and athletes. Written by Jim Beebe, 13 years owning a facility.

Where These Posts Come From

Every post starts as a conversation. I sit down with someone who has built champions, a Big Ten strength coach or a Navy SEAL or a world-record lifter, and then I pull out the part that actually applies to your athlete or your gym and write it down. Nothing here is theory I made up on a whiteboard. It is what the people doing the work said, translated into something you can use Monday.

Two Posts a Week, Two Audiences

The blog splits by who is reading, because an owner and a parent do not have the same problem. Same system underneath, same six blocks, two different rooms. You are welcome in both. Most parents learn something from the owner posts, and plenty of coaches read the parent ones to sharpen how they explain things at the front desk.

Wednesday, For Coaches and Owners

Retention, positioning, parent conversations, and the business math behind a youth performance facility. Written for the person who signs the lease and has the hard conversations at the front desk.

Saturday, For Parents and Athletes

What actually builds a champion, what the recruiting path really looks like, and which block is quietly capping your athlete right now. Written for the family in the car on the way home.

How the Posts Map to the Six Blocks

Mindset, Knowledge, Teammates, Training, Nutrition, Recovery. Every post belongs to at least one of them, because every athlete problem does. Read enough of these and you start diagnosing instead of guessing. You stop asking what else we could try and start asking which block is actually broken. That question is the entire method, and it is the one the Scorecard answers in about 12 minutes.

Start anywhere below. If a post makes you curious about the source, listen to the full conversation. If you would rather get the short version weekly, get two ideas a week by email, or find the one block holding your athlete back first.

Reading Is the Easy Part

Every post here points at the same question: which block is holding your athlete back. You can read for a year, or you can answer it in about 12 minutes.
